Independent guide — not the official site

This is not the official website

pena-palace.pt is an independent travel guide. We are not Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua, S.A. and we are not affiliated with them. We do not sell tickets: the buttons lead to authorised resellers (Tiqets), who may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Opening hours, prices and conditions are reproduced from official sources and can change — always confirm on parquesdesintra.pt.

About pena-palace.pt

This site exists to answer the questions people ask before buying a Pena Palace ticket. We do not sell tickets and we are not Parques de Sintra.

A view of the historic centre of Sintra with the hills behind

pena-palace.pt is an independent travel guide to the Pena National Palace and the other monuments of Sintra. It exists for a simple reason: practical information about Pena is scattered, and the detail that ruins the most visits — that the time on your ticket is when you enter the palace interior, a 30-minute climb above the gate — is almost never given any prominence.

What this site is not

  • It is not the official website. The monument’s official site is run by Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua, S.A. at parquesdesintra.pt.
  • We are not Parques de Sintra and we have no institutional relationship with them.
  • We do not sell tickets. When we send you to buy, it is to named authorised resellers, and we say so.
  • We do not issue, change or refund tickets. For that, contact whoever issued your ticket.

Where the data comes from

We work with three kinds of source, and we always distinguish between them:

  • Official prices and hours. Reproduced from parquesdesintra.pt. The date of the last check appears in the footer of every page — currently 2026-08-14.
  • Reseller prices and availability. Pulled by direct integration with our partner Tiqets’ catalogue. These are indicative: the final price is always the one at checkout.
  • Practical advice and recommendations. Walking times, visit order, quieter hours. That is editorial judgement, not official fact, and it is written as such.

When we cannot confirm a figure against a primary source, we do not invent it: we flag it as unverified.

How we are funded

Through affiliate links. If you buy a ticket after clicking one of our buttons, we may receive a commission from the reseller. The price you pay is exactly the same — the commission comes out of the reseller’s margin, not your pocket.

That creates a potential conflict of interest, and the way to manage it is to be explicit:

  • Every commercial link carries nofollow sponsored and opens in a new tab.
  • We say when not to buy. Our ticket page recommends the €12 park ticket to anyone who does not need the interior, and the official box office to anyone who wants the lowest price — neither earns us anything.
  • We do not accept payment for favourable coverage or for product placement.

Errors and corrections

Prices change, hours change, monuments close for conservation work. If you find something wrong or out of date here, email info@pena-palace.pt with the page and the figure in question. We correct it and update the check date.

When we spot a material error ourselves, we fix it without waiting to be told. The pages carrying the most change-sensitive data — prices, opening hours and entry rules — are the first ones reviewed.
